This is an idea I had for a book that I want to self-publish someday. Here's a brief sample.
Boulder, Colorado, USA - Touted as one of the most beautiful places on earth, it is an undeniable fact. And anyone who has ever visited Boulder can attest to its natural allure and breathtaking scenery, nestled hard up against the towering foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
Visitors are left speechless when they first view the unreal background of the iconic Flatirons, visible from anywhere in the city, and the surrounding open prairie, stretching eastward towards Kansas. Their gaze is constantly drawn to the cinematic-quality backdrop and its mind-bending proportions.
But it's an odd thing - residents of Boulder soon become immune to the fact that their bustling little city sits fast against the geologic breast of these 300-million-year-old sentinels of the Rockies. Made of ancient sands - compressed and molded at the bottom of ancient seas - and thrust up against the rising Rockies. Here, sitting at 5,000 feet above current sea levels, with the 14,000-foot peaks of the Rocky Mountains hidden just out of view behind the lofty summits of Bear Peak and Green Mountain, lie the amazing Flatirons. The average local Boulderite goes about their day, scarcely noticing these omnipresent views. Unless you are a visitor, you tend to overlook these amazing views as you go about your daily business.
Now, here, having sought out the obvious, as well as the obstructed views, one can get a sense of just how amazing this little city really is, and how lucky the inhabitants and visitors are to be graced with this remarkable bit of nature every day, always within view.
